When we think about the individuals that bring us joy in fulfilling our vision for health and well-being, we immediately think of you, our patients and friends. We miss you greatly and are continuing to find ways of connecting with you regularly and being available for you in any way possible as we get ready for opening the practice beyond emergency appointments.
We are happy to announce that as of June 1, 2020 Ferndale Family Dental is open for a wider spectrum of dental care and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have the opportunity to welcome you back! In these past few months, we have been working diligently to review our protocols and find ways to adapt it to our “new normal.” While many things have changed all around us, one thing remained the same: our commitment to your safety and the safety of our dental team. In light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, our office has implemented additional guidelines and protocols to ensure your safety.
To allow for social distancing, we will manage our appointments to allow greater time in between patients as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time. This might mean that you are offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
At this time, we also offer teledentistry services for evaluations and follow-up visits that can be done online or through video meetings. Please contact our office if you or someone you know could benefit from this type of appointment.
Prior to your appointment with us, our office will contact you via phone and ask you a set of COVID-19 screening questions. It is required that we complete this questionnaire prior to your appointment. We will have to reschedule your appointment if we are unable to complete this step.
To allow for social distancing, we ask all patients to remain in their vehicle and to call or text our office to notify us of your arrival. A team member will come out and walk you through a personalized arrival procedures, including but not limited to taking your temperature and completing day-of COVID-19 screening, before guiding you from your vehicle directly to treatment rooms to eliminate contacting surfaces.
At this time, we also request that friends and family who accompany our patients be limited to one companion, and if at all possible, to remain in the vehicle and not enter the office unless absolutely necessary. If a companion must enter, please inform them that they, too, will be subject to screening and social distancing protocols.
We also request that everyone entering the clinic to wear face coverings or face masks. For the time being, we have also removed magazines and items that can harbor or transfer germs of any kind both in the lobby and treatment rooms.
Though summer is upon us, we encourage you to come prepared with a sweater or jacket to your appointment as we will be keeping the office colder than usual to keep our team from overheating from the additional Personal protective equipment (PPE) like face shields, head covers, gowns, and masks that we have to wear all day. We will provide additional blankets upon request to make sure that your visit is as comfortable as possible.
To help facilitate a contactless exit from your appointment, we encourage you to make payment arrangement in advance with our office to avoid delay or the need to stop by the front desk after your appointment. Please contact our office to inquire about other contactless payment options we have available.
Finally, when you come to our office you will see most of us, particularly the clinic team, already dressed with the additional PPE. While you are already accustomed to seeing us wearing PPE during treatment, the current guidelines require us to keep our gear on the entire time. When you come to your appointment, it is our hope that your visit will remain as comfortable as possible, that you will continue to see the smiles behind our masks, and feel the warmth of our hearts as we continue to partner with you with your oral health.
Stay healthy and positive!
